The "Michelin Guide Fukuoka/Saga 2014 Special Edition" will be published on July 10th. To commemorate this, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (KLM) held a commemorative photo session at Fukuoka Airport on the 8th.

Michelin's popular PR mascot, known as the Michelin Man, Bibendum, Fukuoka Prefecture's Tourism Goodwill Ambassador, Saga City Tourism Campaign Ladies, Michelin Tire, KLM officials, and crew members attended the event to welcome flight KL869, which arrived at Fukuoka Airport from Amsterdam.

The "Fukuoka/Saga 2014 Special Edition" awards 45 starred restaurants in Fukuoka and 12 in Saga, for a total of 57 restaurants. The two restaurants that received the highest three stars, which is considered "exceptional cuisine worth traveling for," are Fukuoka City's sushi restaurant Sushi Gyoten and Japanese restaurant Sagano. Many restaurants, including those with starred restaurants and non-starred restaurants, are listed, including 74 Bib Gourmand restaurants, which are recommended by inspectors for their excellent value-for-money cuisine. The guide also features restaurants serving udon, ramen, gyoza, and mizutaki, dishes typical of Fukuoka and Saga. Bernard Delmas, president and CEO of Michelin Japan Tire Co., Ltd., commented, "We are pleased to publish a Michelin Guide for Fukuoka and Saga, a region rich in nature and abundant seafood and mountain produce. We hope that people will use the guide for everyday meals, anniversaries, business dinners, and other special occasions, and rediscover the charms of the region." Selections are also listed on the Michelin Guide Digital website, and an English version is scheduled to be released this fall. KLM became the first airline to offer direct flights between Europe and Kyushu in April 2013. Since April 2014, the guide has added another flight, bringing the total to four flights per week.
