Christophe Lemaire steps down from Hermès

Jul 22, 2014

Hermès has announced that Christophe Lemaire, Artistic Director of Women's Ready-to-Wear, will be stepping down after the Spring/Summer 2015 collection, which will be released on October 1st. Lemaire took over from Jean Paul Gaultier in the Autumn/Winter 2010 season. He established Hermès' style and elegance with a completely different style from Gaultier's. Christophe commented on his retirement, "Working for Hermès has enriched my professional and personal experience. It has been a great pleasure and a privilege. I am very proud of what we have built together. At this critical stage of the growth of my own brand, it is both necessary and desirable for me to focus on that work." Hermès CEO Axel Dumas also commented, "We are extremely grateful to Christophe for his passion in further enriching the world of our Maison's women's ready-to-wear collection. We wish him great success for his brand, which he holds very dear."
