FACETASM's "Discomfort Collection" to be sold in advance at Shinjuku Isetan

Jul 23, 2014

FACETASM will be pre-selling its 2014-2015 Autumn/Winter collection at The Stage #3 on the third floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building from July 23rd to 29th. The key concepts for this season are "heavy" and "oppressive." The store will showcase styles that exude a sense of weight yet also exude a sense of incongruity, including a look featuring a double-layered rider's vest (200,000 yen) paired with a dress (62,000 yen), voluminous outerwear paired with leather, and a multi-layered pleated maxi skirt (40,000 yen) paired with a large fringe top (56,000 yen). Additionally, the mouton arm varsity jacket (150,000 yen), normally only available in men's sizes, will be resized to women's sizes and sold exclusively at the store.

According to the buyer in charge, "Fast fashion and coordination that caters to trends are mainstream these days, but I would like people to pay attention to fashion that is out of place, such as deliberately adding unnatural volume to pieces to make them difficult to wear (like this season's FACETASM), or using excessive pleats."

At the brand's 2014-15 AW collection show held in March, sheets extended out onto the runway, creating an oppressive space. With that collection in mind, the store's venue will also feature walls made of plywood and decorations that evoke a runway.
