Pancake shop "VERY FANCY" produces hotel opening

Jul 15, 2014

Hotel Relief, a new business hotel produced by VERY FANCY, a pancake specialty store in Shinsaibashi, Osaka, opened this month in Kokura, Kyushu, and Namba, Osaka. The Kokura location opened on July 2nd, and the Namba location on the 14th. The "Relief" in the hotel's name is an abbreviation of the hotel's concept: relax, ecology, link, imagination, enjoy, and fresh. Room rates start at around 7,000 yen per person.

The business hotel also has a cafe, "Hummingbird by VERYFANCY," which is open to non-guests. The Kokura location seats 25, and the Namba location seats 50. The hotel's breakfast menu includes the cafe's signature pancakes, as well as acai bowls made with homemade granola, French toast, hot sandwiches, smoothies, and more.

The employee uniforms are noteworthy. They are casual, consisting of dungaree shirts and jeans worn by the employees themselves. The dungaree shirts in this uniform are a collaboration item with stylist Hiroshi Ozawa, who runs the men's brand "NUMERO UNO." This collaboration was the idea of Satoru Sugimoto, president of Very Fancy International, which runs the "VERY FANCY" brand, who said, "By making it casual, we wanted customers to feel closer to it."
