Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi holds Spain fair. Chef from El Bulli appears at Loewe exhibition.

Feb 12, 2014

Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store will be holding the "Mitsukoshi Spain Fair," an event showcasing Spanish food and interior design, from February 19th to 24th in the event hall on the 7th floor of the main building.

2013 marked the 400th anniversary of relations between Japan and Spain, and the event continues this year. Following this trend, Mitsukoshi will be hosting booths under the theme of "A Spain that's more authentic than the real thing," with approximately 20 food companies, 6 wine companies, and 3 interior goods companies setting up booths to promote the charms of Spain. The venue will feature a lineup of Spanish sweets and wines that are popular in Japan, including marron glacés from CUEVAS (8 pieces/1,301 yen), baked goods from INES ROSALES (3 types/630 yen each), and rare Spanish wines from Bodegas Matsu, including El Picaro (750ml/1,700 yen), El Recio (750ml/2,600 yen), and Matsu El Viejo Special Selection (750ml/6,000 yen). Other dishes on offer include Iberian pork and goose meat, known for their sweet fat from pigs fed on oak and cork acorns, as well as the standard tapas (appetizers) found in authentic Spanish bars, allowing you to enjoy the traditional, authentic flavors of Spain. Also appearing at the event will be Yuki Takahashi, chef and owner of the creative restaurant Yukimura, who trained at the now-closed El Bulli, renowned as the world's hardest restaurant to book. A limited-edition platter featuring a blend of traditional and modern Spanish cuisine using Japanese ingredients will be available for dine-in. In addition to food, the event will also feature interior goods such as a Seville-style painted plate clock (¥21,000), a Granada ceramic vegetable pot (¥6,825), and a garlic pot (¥2,520).

In conjunction with this exhibition, the "2014 Loewe Exhibition" and the "Lladró Exhibition" will also be held, events that convey the worldview of this prestigious Spanish brand. At the Loewe Exhibition, a giant mobile inspired by Loewe's iconic bag, the "AMAZONA," will be displayed in the venue, and a "Kids Leather Workshop" will be held at the venue, using the lever patches that are actually used on Loewe products. Visitors will be able to make their own one-of-a-kind Amazona.
