FENDI will release a collaboration shoe with Italian shoe brand Silvano Sassetti in August.
The shoes were introduced in the 2014-15 Autumn/Winter collection. Crafted using high-quality French leather, each pair takes four to six days for artisans to craft. They feature Sassetti's signature uneven coloring. The "Selleria" hand stitching adds a distinctive Fendi touch.
Shoemaker Silvano Sassetti is the legitimate heir to the title of "Maestro Calzoraio," an Italian term for a craftsman who possesses both the finest skills and the finest spirit. Instead of the "Goodyear felt" method commonly used for leather shoes, Sassetti uses thin leather for the insole and felt for the midsole instead of cork. He is also the creator of the "Goodyear Flex" manufacturing method, which involves laying the rib walls that are attached to the insole after sewing. He has obtained patents for this manufacturing method in Europe, America, and Japan, and the shoes he makes are acclaimed for being just as durable as traditional shoes, yet lighter, with good arching and a soft feel.
Three types will be on sale this time: lace-up shoes (dark brown, burgundy), whole-cut lace-up shoes (blue), and loafers (dark brown). All are priced at 124,500 yen each.
