New York-based bag brand LeSportsac reopened its Ginza store (8-9-13 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo) on July 19th after expanding and renovating. The two-story store facing Ginza Chuo-dori avenue features a light blue ceiling, pink chandeliers, hand-drawn illustrations of drawers and picture frames, and original fixtures, creating the feeling of being invited into a woman's room. The grassy walls and the multi-stripe pattern commemorating the brand's 40th anniversary also express the brand's vision of being "cheerful, playful, and inspiring everyone with a bright and happy mood." The first floor features new arrivals, while the second floor is home to travel items such as Boston bags, as well as the "LeSportsac Artist Edition Ninadigi by Mika Ninagawa" collection, a collaboration with Mika Ninagawa's recently released digital photo book "Ninadigi." The store also offers a "LeSportsac" tote bag exclusive to the store, a "NYC" print bag exclusive to the store in Japan, and a tropical "Bahia Stripe" bag exclusive to the flagship store and the Omotesando store. A new colorway of the LeSportsac pattern, "LeSportsac Black," is also available at the store (it will be available at other stores from mid-August). The brand's popular mini-sized shoulder bag, the "Small Jenni," this summer, as well as the "Small Carry All" and "Classic Hobo" bags, are also available in a variety of prints. To coincide with the opening, staff uniforms have been updated. They feature trompe l'oeil T-shirts with hand-drawn prints on the collar and pockets, black miniskirts, and matching colorful sneakers. Each staff member also carries a mobile cash register using an iPod touch, allowing them to make payments and check inventory on the spot. This mobile cash register has been installed in all nine LeSportsac directly operated stores.
"This is the beginning of the second chapter for the LeSportsac Ginza store. We aim to create a store filled with fun patterns and a relaxed atmosphere, where both customers and staff can feel happy and smile. LeSportsac's lightweight and durable Boston bags are convenient for when you're doing a lot of shopping in Ginza," says shop manager Junko Obari.
In addition, the store is running a three-day campaign from July 19th to 21st where you can exchange any unused LeSportsac bags or pouches for a 3,000 yen discount coupon. The coupon can be used on purchases of 10,000 yen or more at the store during the campaign period (a 1,000 yen discount is available for purchases under 10,000 yen).
