To celebrate the FIFA World Cup Brazil, adidas has released a three-minute short film, their first collaboration with artist Marina Abramovic. Film producer Dustin Ling directed the film, which re-enacts Abramovic's 1978 work "Work Relation," and shot it at Pioneer Works in Brooklyn, New York. The resulting footage resembles a 19th-century black-and-white film. Divided into three groups, performers carry a pile of stones from one end of a room to the other, highlighting the importance of teamwork. Abramovic commented, "Working as a team maximizes commitment, dedication, and performance. Collective energy is a powerful source of energy. I enjoyed highlighting the intersection between performance and sport." The film's 11 performers, representing various professions, are inspired by members of a soccer team. Everyone wore MAI (Marina Abramovic Institute) white coats over their everyday clothes and Adidas Samba soccer training shoes, representing the team's uniform. Abramovic appeared as the referee directing the game.

Abramovic began her career in the 1970s and had a retrospective exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 2010. She also appeared in the Spring/Summer 2013 advertising visuals for Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci. Until August 25th, her work "Marina Abramovic: 512 Hours" is on display at the Serpentine Gallery in London, where visitors become part of the work.
