Number Sugar, a caramel specialty store that has been attracting constant lines since its December opening, has released two summer-only cold drinks.
The Number Sugar Coffee (300 yen) is an original blend of acidic Guatemalan coffee beans and espresso beans topped with caramel cream. "We carefully created a drink with a strong coffee flavor that stands up to the caramel cream, and just the right amount of acidity to make it refreshing even after mixing with the milk caramel cream. We hope to showcase the fun of using caramel cream instead of gum syrup to sweeten unsweetened coffee," says owner Keisuke Maebara.
The Caramel Smoothie (S size 400 yen, M size 570 yen) is a well-balanced combination of milk and fresh cream, resulting in a refreshing taste that's not too heavy even in the summer. They are topped with bitter caramel cream, allowing you to enjoy the caramel flavor that is unique to this shop.
"Both drinks are ones we are confident in and have been improved upon," says Maehara. Both varieties will be on sale until the end of August.
Part of the store has also been renovated, and a counter has been added. The aim was to create the image of a coffee stand that offers a stylish, light break between shopping trips.
