Seiko Spirit Smart will release the "Sottsass Limited Edition" collection (5 designs, priced at ¥32,000 each) in early March, featuring reproductions of classic timepieces from the 1990s.
The collection is based on models created in the 1990s through a collaboration with Italian design maestro Ettore Sottsass. Sottsass was an Italian architect and designer known for numerous outstanding product designs, including Italy's first computer, the ELEA series, and the portable typewriter "Valentine."
Like the original models, the collection features a simple case with two overlapping glass panels, creating a sharp form. The sapphire glass on the front emphasizes its solidity and beauty. Numerals and scales are printed on the back of the glass, creating a three-dimensional, floating appearance.
The reproductions retain the playful design and unique coloring of the original, while incorporating a modern, pop design. Despite its colorful coloring, it fits comfortably on the wrist of an adult and exudes the creativity of Italian design. The lineup consists of five models: "SCEB017," "SCEB021," and "SCEB025," all limited to 1,000 pieces, and "SCEB019" and "SCEB023," all limited to 1,500 pieces.
