TOD'S is holding a limited-time event, "The JOY of Family," at the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building until March 10th. As the premise suggests, it is a special opportunity for the whole family to experience the world of TOD'S.
First, the event will feature the early release of the Japan-exclusive bag and shoe collection. The event is being held across two spaces: the bags are in the handbag/promotion section on the first floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building, and the shoes are in the women's shoes/promotion section on the second floor.
The handbag pop-up space on the first floor is centered around the new women's tote bag, "Joy." Another feature is that it will feature men's collections that are not usually available in the main building. In addition to Joy's Japan-exclusive gold and silver colors (medium/146,000 yen, large/156,000 yen), there is a wide selection of neutral colors such as black and white, as well as spring-like pale pink and artsy designs painted with floral motifs.
On the second floor, Tod's has taken over the entire red wall display window from in front of the West Park escalator to the women's shoe area. When you step into the promotional space, your eye will be captivated by the meticulous displays, such as the video monitors that cover the wall and the "Gommino Circle," where Gomminos are arranged radially on a circular mirror panel. Like the first floor, despite it being a women's floor, the men's collection is also available. The Japan-exclusive design of the iconic "Gommino" shoes is available in women's (56,000-59,000 yen) and junior (29,000 yen) sizes, while the Japan-exclusive design of the "City Gommino" (2 styles, 7 colors, 63,000 yen each) is available in men's sizes. Junior sizes, which are usually only available at flagship stores, are also available in three color variations to match the women's sizes: white, navy, and pink.
Going further inside, you'll find many new 15SS items other than Gommino. The full lineup is impressive, ranging from the "Marlin" deck shoes, espadrille-style slip-ons with raffia soles, "Spira" pumps, the popular classic coin loafers, and feminine ballet flats. On Saturday and Sunday, following the first day of the event, illustrator WALNUT, known for his work with musicians and numerous famous brands, will perform a live painting session in the women's shoe/promotion space on the second floor. "This event features a full range of sizes, from adult to children, so I arranged them all on one canvas. By using colorful pieces, I was able to express the wide variety of colors. By incorporating sunglasses and bags, I was able to create a uniquely Tod's worldview," commented WALNUT. Customers who purchase products on Saturday and Sunday will also receive a free portrait from WALNUT. She will hand-draw the back of a card featuring her "Gommino Circle." The pop-up space's walls are designed to evoke the imagery of the Spring/Summer 2015 women's collection. This season's visuals were shot at Hotel Parco Dei Principi in Talia Sorrento. Parco dei Principi was designed by Italian architect Gio Ponti, who is said to be the father of modern Italian architecture. Geometric ceramic motifs inspired by the building and a collage of the deep blue sea of Sorrento represent the sophisticated Italian taste that combines casualness and elegance, a hallmark of this season.
Surrounded by the special space and lineup that can only be found at this limited-time event, you can reflect on the occasion and the person you will be spending time with. It is the perfect opportunity to choose your own Tod's look while imagining your spring outfit.
