Marni's Fall/Winter 2015-16 collection was powerful. The fabrics were stiff, taut, and had a rough texture. Hems were left raw. The silhouettes were long and dignified. Consuelo Castiglioni's theme was "essence," inspired by the image of a woman wandering alone in the wilderness. True to the theme, the collection showcased pure designs stripped of all unnecessary elements. Coat dresses, long vests, and trousers featured slits for functionality. Thick belts positioned high around the waist defined the waist. Purses and body bags with straps of the same material and thickness were paired with bags designed to free up both hands. Perhaps to evoke the image of self-protection, turtlenecks were often worn underneath. The occasional use of fur on pockets and sleeves added a wild touch. While Marni's signature prints and patterns were also present, this time the designs were rough. We saw faded forest prints and faded block patterns. Some pieces featured the same pattern in both print and needle punch.
There was also a wide selection of accessories. The shoes had raw welts to match the outfit. Large cufflinks and earrings added accents to the styling.
