Domenico Dolce, Stefano Gabbana, and film director Baz Luhrmann received special awards at the 3rd annual La Fondazione NY Gala, held at the Museum of the Moving Image in New York on December 8th.
The awards honor achievements and contributions to the arts. Dolce and Gabbana were recognized for their international leadership, creativity, and passion in fashion and luxury goods, while Luhrmann was recognized for his work in a wide range of fields, including film, opera, theater, and music.
La Fondazione NY is a nonprofit organization that supports young Italian artists in the United States. It promotes cultural cooperation between the United States and Italy by organizing art exhibitions and conferences and providing American artists with opportunities to study in Italy.
In conjunction with the awards, it was announced that the Museum of the Moving Image will host the "Costume for Cinema from Tirelli Atelier" exhibition next summer. Since its founding by Umberto Tirelli in 1964, Tirelli Atelier has been known for creating costumes for classic films such as Visconti's "The Leopard." To commemorate the opening of this exhibition, 24 looks from the Dolce & Gabbana archives, which were inspired by films, were on display for one night only.
