Fashion designer Stefano Gabbana was born on November 14, 1962, in Milan, Italy.
Domenico Dolce, who would later become his partner, joined the Milan fashion designer studio where Gabbana was working and taught him design. After an 18-month military service, he co-founded a design studio with Gabbana in 1982.
In 1985, they held a fashion show at a new talent discovery event during the Milan Collection, and the following year, they presented their first women's collection under the name Dolce & Gabbana. Although the show was held with limited funding, featuring amateur female models and handmade sets, it was well-received and attracted worldwide attention. In 1989, they held their first show in Tokyo.
Dolce & Gabbana continues to present its women's and men's collections every season in Milan. It is known as one of Italy's leading brands and is loved by celebrities such as Madonna, Beyoncé and Monica Bellucci.
Earlier this year, the two men were found guilty of tax evasion and each received a suspended sentence of two and a half years in prison.
