"Hirano Sakiko's (Inedible) Food Heaven," featuring food-themed artwork and merchandise by various artists, including food essayist Hirano Sakiko, will be held at Isetan Mitsukoshi from September 29th.
This event focuses not only on the enjoyment of eating food, but also on the new appetite that develops precisely because we cannot eat it. The venue will feature food-themed artwork by food essayist Hirano Sakiko, as well as fashion designers, artists, musicians, jewelry makers, and others.
During the event, "wearable food" will be on sale, including scarves and handkerchiefs inspired by wrappers from Hirano Sakiko's beloved pastry shop, Lowser Patisserie; brooch artist Crepe., who creates unique food brooches featuring motifs such as shirako (milt) and tempura musubi (rice balls); ROTARI PARKER, who creates accessories by processing real food into resin; and contemporary accessory brand CHIMASKI, who transforms candy wrappers and rice crackers into jewelry.
In addition, a small bookstore will open, stocking unique secondhand books related to food, a favorite of Hirano Sakiko. In collaboration with Hirano Sakiko's old friend, model Kotani Miyu, merchandise will be released featuring the neon sign and famous omelet rice from "Kissa YOU," a cafe in Higashi Ginza that the two are fond of. Also scheduled to appear will be Team Mikansei, a four-member group that loves sliced bread.
For the event, Hirano Sakiko, DJ Misoshiru, and MC Gohan have produced a new song and main music video themed around the food floor on the first basement floor of the main building of Isetan Shinjuku. The new song CD, paired with a specially designed tote bag featuring an Isetan Macmillan pattern, will be sold exclusively at Isetan. The event will be held at Center Park/TOKYO Kaihoku on the 2nd floor of Isetan Shinjuku Main Building and Isetan Haneda Store (women's) Terminal 1 from September 29th to October 13th, at the Isetan Online Store from September 29th to November 3rd, and at the special venue on the 5th floor of JR Kyoto Isetan from October 28th to November 2nd.
During the event, a talk session with Hirano Sakiko and DJ Misoshiru and MC Gohan, as well as a live performance event by DJ Misoshiru and MC Gohan will be held at TOKYO Kaihoku on the 2nd floor of Isetan Shinjuku Main Building from 5:30pm to 7pm on October 3rd.
