Hearst Fujingaho will launch a Japanese version of its women's online media, Cosmopolitan, in early 2016.
With the motto "Fun Fearless Female," Cosmopolitan is a global media outlet that provides a wide range of information on romance, beauty, celebrities, lifestyle, entertainment, fashion, and more to millennial women. The magazine is sold in 79 countries worldwide, and the online site is available in 45 countries. It boasts an average of 60 million unique users per month.
The Japanese version of the site being launched will deliver carefully selected, real overseas information from Cosmopolitan magazines around the world, quickly translated, as well as original Japanese articles, aimed at office ladies who love overseas trends and students dreaming of global careers. The categories are divided into "LOVE," which covers serious topics such as marriage and divorce, as well as topics that are often discussed in girl talk, such as dating, sex, and the politics between men and women; "BEAUTY & FASHION," which features celebrity beauty methods, the latest beauty products, and tips for building a healthy body; and "ENTERTAINMENT," which features celebrity gossip and unique stories.
The site is the first online-only project by Hearst Fujingaho, which is promoting a digital-first, mobile-first strategy with the aim of strengthening its digital business.
