Discover the secrets in the photographs. Jurgen Axelvall's photo exhibition "OIDE" is currently being held at the Swedish Embassy

Dec 24, 2015

Swedish photographer Jurgen Axelvall is holding his photo exhibition "OIDE" at the Swedish Embassy until January 29, 2016. Curated by Shinjuku gallery matchbaco, the exhibition's title, "OIDE" ("Come," meaning "Come"), expresses his desire for viewers to approach the photographs and discover their hidden secrets by focusing on their details. All photographs were taken with Polaroid film cameras, remaining faithful to the original Polaroids without any color correction or digital processing. While the series includes both new and old images with diverse themes, shot over a long period of time, Axelvall's approach to his subjects creates a sense of unity. After leaving his home country and living in New York for 15 years, Jurgen Axelvall moved to Tokyo in 2011 and has been working as a photographer ever since. In 2013, he was named the international winner of the NEW EXPOSURE Award, sponsored by American Vogue and Bottega Veneta. In November 2014, he held a photo exhibition at the Park Hyatt Tokyo, the very subject of his art project "I was looking for Park Hyatt Tokyo," which he had photographed over the course of seven years. The works were selected as a jury recommendation for the 18th Japan Media Arts Festival by the Agency for Cultural Affairs.
