"LUMIX MEETS BEYOND 2020 BY JAPANESE PHOTOGRAPHERS #3," an exhibition featuring six cutting-edge Japanese photographers, will be held at the IMA Gallery in Roppongi, Tokyo, from January 22 to 31, 2016. This third edition of the group exhibition has been held annually in Paris and Tokyo since 2013 with the aim of supporting and nurturing young photographers who will lead the Japanese art photography world. This exhibition is a traveling tour of the exhibition held in Paris in November 2015. The lineup of works includes works selected from the portfolio review "STEP OUT!" organized by IMA Media Project, such as Yoshitsugu Nagano's "Retina Noise," an attempt to take photographs without light; Emi Nakata's "Yosuga," a photograph of herself wearing her mother's belongings; and Shinpei Yamashita's "SPECTRUM," a photograph of a forest that evokes a sense of life. Three artists - Kazuto Ishikawa, who released the photo book "Humanity" in 2015, Satoshi Fujiwara, who has collaborated with ISSEY MIYAKE MEN, and Chihiro Ichinose, known for her lyrical works themed around memory - will exhibit new works shot with Panasonic's high-performance mirrorless camera, the LUMIX DMC-GX8.
In addition, a talk show featuring artist Tomoko Sawada and editor/art journalist Yoshio Suzuki will be held from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM on January 26th, and photographer Daisuke Yokota, Tomio Koyama, president of Tomio Koyama Gallery, and Teiya Iwabuchi, editor-in-chief of Bijutsu Techo, will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on January 30th.
