The exhibition "Magical Museum: Illusions of Light and Shadow" will be held from July 12th to August 28th at the Togo Seiji Memorial Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Museum of Art in Shinjuku, Tokyo.
"Magical Museum," which has toured numerous art museums across the country and attracted a total of over 1.68 million visitors, is a completely new type of exhibition that allows visitors to see, participate, and enjoy. It features works that can be intuitively enjoyed by art enthusiasts, as well as those who don't usually visit art museums, from children to adults.
This exhibition will feature a wide variety of works, from "media art," artistic expressions that utilize cutting-edge technology such as computers, to analog works that utilize natural phenomena and light and shadow. This exhibition, which incorporates new technology, will feature a number of "interactive art," immersive, interactive works that allow viewers to interact with the artworks and interact with each other. The venue will feature a diverse range of approximately 17 works by 10 artists and groups, including Pixelman by interaction artist Kenichi Okada and spatial designer Kunie Hiyasui (LENS), in which when you stand in front of the work, your entire body is projected onto the screen, and as you move closer or further away, the resolution of your body changes, transforming you into a character made of pixels; SAKURA by design engineer Hisato Ogata (takram design engineering), in which cherry blossom petals flutter down when you wave your hand in front of the work; and Lifelog_ Chandelier, a chandelier made from goose feathers by Komatsu Kosei, who is currently developing works themed around birds and feathers, inspired by his interest in "floating."
