The exhibition "History on Paper -Rupert J. Smith-," focusing on Rupert J. Smith, who served as master printer for American artist Andy Warhol, is running until July 3rd at hpgrp Gallery Tokyo in Omotesando, Tokyo.
In February of this year, hpgrp Gallery Tokyo held a three-day exhibition, "History on Paper," featuring American pop art from the 1960s. Despite the short duration, it received a great response.
This time, the focus is on Rupert Smith, who served as the official master printer for Andy Warhol's "Hammer and Sickle" series, known as the flagship of pop art, and was involved in all of his tableaux and prints. The "Japan Series - Tribute to Andy Warhol" series, which is said to have been created by Andy Warhol during his lifetime but released under the name of Rupert Smith due to his death before it could be released, will be exhibited, including the rare "Trial Proof."
