Daniel Ost's flower installation in Kurashiki

Jan 13, 2015

Belgian flower artist Daniel Ost will be exhibiting his installation "Kurashiki: Daniel Ost's Flowers and Heart" in the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter in Okayama from March 1st until the 4th.
The exhibition will feature Japanese flowers at the Ohara family's main residence, which will be on public display for the first time, and gorgeous Western flowers at Yurinso (Green Palace), the villa where Emperor Showa stayed. A contemporary art garden will also be set in the courtyard of the Ohara Museum of Art's Crafts and Oriental Gallery.
Ost was born in Belgium in 1955. He has exhibited his works in traditional architecture around the world, including at the Belgian royal wedding. In Japan, his works have been exhibited at Ninna-ji Temple, To-ji Temple, and Kinkaku-ji Temple in Kyoto. In 2013, an exhibition was held to celebrate the "Heisei Great Shrine Relocation" of Izumo Taisha Shrine. His style is characterized by large-scale, organic forms.
