■ "Records by Artists 1958-1990" by Giorgio Maffei

This is the catalogue for an exhibition curated by Italian art critic Giorgio Maffei, held at the University of Bologna Library in 2013. This exhibition displays approximately 500 record jackets from his personal collection. The 1950s was a time when artists across a wide range of fields, including musicians, visual artists, performance artists, and writers, began to use sound as a new means of expression. His extensive record collection reveals that experimental efforts using sound were already underway during this period. The catalog features exhibits such as records by musicians including Brian Eno and Steve Reich, as well as rare record jackets with artwork by Yves Klein, Jean Dubuffet, and Kisho Kurokawa.

Giorgio Maffei is also known as a collector of books by designer Bruno Munari. He has conducted extensive research into the relationship between art and music.
