Each bookstore will act as a concierge, recommending "the book you should read now" to FASHION HEADLINE readers. Every Thursday, each branch of the art bookstore "NADiff" will introduce a book they recommend. This time, we'll be looking at the flagship store in Ebisu, Tokyo, the NADiff Apartment (1-18-4 NADiff A/P/A/R/T, 1st floor, Ebisu, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo). ■ "Made in Tokyo" by Daan van Golden Daan van Golden, a Dutch artist born in 1936, spent time in Tokyo from 1963 to 1964 creating artwork. He was deeply inspired by the Japanese clothing he saw there and the patterns on the wrapping paper designed by Genichiro Inokuma for Mitsukoshi department store. Since then, he has taken inspiration from existing objects and sublimated them into artwork. This book primarily features recent collages featuring Tokyo, which were exhibited at an exhibition held at the Tokyo art gallery "Misako & Rosen" in 2014. It also features works using floral and checkered patterns created in the 1960s, as well as advertising photos in the weekly magazine "Heibon Punch" in which Daan himself appeared as a model.
