The Japan Jewelry Best Dresser Awards ceremony, given to celebrities who look best in jewelry, was held in Tokyo on January 22nd. Award recipients included Kanna Hashimoto and Mirei Kiritani. Hashimoto, at 15 years old, is the youngest recipient to date.
The award recognizes "the most radiant person," "the person who looks best in jewelry," and "the person we hope will continue to wear jewelry" by generation and male category. This year, the 26th annual awards ceremony, saw seven recipients: Kanna Hashimoto (teens), Mirei Kiritani (20s), Kyoko Fukada (30s), Rie Miyazawa (40s), Nagisa Katahira (50s), Ran Ito (60s and older), and Sho Aikawa (male). Additionally, singer May J. won the Special Award in the Female Category, and professional figure skater Daisuke Takahashi won the Special Award in the Male Category. Hashimoto smiled and said, "I'm only 15, so I don't wear real jewelry, but jewelry has always been something I've always wanted. I'm really happy to be able to wear my first piece of jewelry in such a glamorous setting." Kiritani said, "I admired my mother's jewelry, and as a child I would string beads together to make rings and necklaces. I want to work even harder to become an adult woman who can look good in jewelry." Fukada, who won the award for the second time after receiving it as a teenager in 2001, said, "I want to continue to live my life in my 30s so that I can shine even more." Miyazawa said, "Actors are like jewelry. They can shine by being discovered by others and polished by directors. I want to continue to cherish these encounters." Aikawa also commented, "I've been wanting to receive jewelry for several years. Is that too bold?" Takahashi admitted, "I've never given jewelry to a woman," and excited the audience by saying, "I want to work hard so that I can win in the men's category next time."
