Who is the most eco-conscious best dressed person? ~ The 85th Academy Awards

Mar 7, 2013

Many Hollywood stars are expressing their concern for environmental issues, and this trend is even influencing their extravagant red carpet dress styles.
Anne Hathaway, who recently won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, is known to be a vegetarian, and even had an all-vegan menu at her wedding. Now, she's making headlines for her vegan shoes.
She wore a nude pink Prada dress for her acceptance speech, and her feet were leather-cruelty-free Giuseppe Zanotti sandals. She reportedly requested faux leather shoes from top brands like Tom Ford and Jimmy Choo for the premiere of her award-winning film, "Les Miserables," and other award ceremonies leading up to the Oscars.

Helen Hunt, who was also nominated for Best Supporting Actress, chose a dress not from Dior or Armani, but from H&M, a brand known for its green color.

Naomie Harris, actress from "Skyfall," wore a dress by Ghanaian designer Michael Badger. Badger is a 20-year-old up-and-coming designer who was discovered by Vivienne Westwood and won the "Red Carpet Green Dress" award. Her dress for the day featured organic silk dyed with vegetable dyes, recycled zippers, and vintage beads.
