Sogo & Seibu opens nendo collaboration store. From interior design to fashion.

Feb 3, 2014

Starting in April, Sogo & Seibu will gradually open "by|n," a newly curated sales floor featuring products developed in collaboration with nendo, a design office led by Oki Sato. This new store offers everyday items, primarily targeting people in their 20s and 30s who are particular about design, even when purchasing everyday items. Created around the concept of "solving small annoyances in daily life with the power of design," the store offers a total of 70 items, ranging from interior goods such as tableware, lighting, towels, and fragrances to fashion items such as shirts, shoes, bags, glasses, and necklaces. The store boasts not only simple designs but also sophisticated designs and high-quality craftsmanship. The store will open at Seibu Ikebukuro Main Store and Shibuya Store in April this year, and at Sogo Yokohama Store in the fall, with plans to expand to all flagship stores within the next fiscal year. Some products will also be available at Loft.

The "by|n meister" product group, developed in collaboration with traditional Japanese workshops, carries a total of 50 items in eight genres: woodwork, cutlery, Arita ware, Japanese paper, Nishijin weaving, wire mesh work, lacquerware, and Wakasa chopsticks (from May onwards). It has been on sale since October last year at Seibu Shibuya, and since November at Seibu Ikebukuro Main Store, Sogo Yokohama Store, and Omiya Store.
