nendo collaborates with traditional Japanese craftsmen to sell at Sogo & Seibu

Sogo & Seibu will be releasing a collaboration between the globally renowned design office "nendo" and traditional Japanese workshops and manufacturers, known as the "by | n meister" and "by | n" series.

"by | n meister" collaborates with workshops that preserve traditional techniques, and the lineup includes seven categories of products, including nendo x Kobayashi Kogyo cutlery (5,040 yen each), nendo x Gen'emon Kiln porcelain tableware (1,260 to 25,200 yen), nendo x Nakagawa Mokkogei wooden tableware (12,600 to 113,750 yen), as well as washi paper, Nishijin brocade, wire mesh work, and lacquerware. Sales will begin at Seibu Shibuya on October 22nd, followed by Seibu Ikebukuro Main Store, Sogo Yokohama Store, and Omiya Store in early November. Furthermore, from October 22nd to November 4th, Seibu Shibuya will be hosting the "By | n meister Exhibition: Adding a Little Excitement to Your Life," an exhibition and sale of products from the series, product sketches and prototypes.

"by | n" plans to collaborate with 15 manufacturers to produce around 500 items. As the first step, towels will be sold at Sogo & Seibu from October 22nd, with prices ranging from 630 yen to 3,990 yen. From next year, plans call for the sale of eyeglasses, reading glasses, stationery, everyday tableware, chopsticks and more.

Nendo, represented by designer Sato Oki, was founded in 2002 and is based in Tokyo, Milan and Singapore.
