On May 25th, IDC Otsuka Furniture opened a new type of furniture select shop, "EDITION BLUE Aoyama" (3-1-28 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo), in collaboration with nendo, a design office headed by Oki Sato. Edition Blue, based on the concept of "choosing interior design like choosing clothes," opened its first store in the IDC Otsuka Furniture Shinjuku showroom on the 5th of last month. The Aoyama store is a street-front store. The store offers furniture, lighting, and miscellaneous goods that blend Scandinavian style with Italian modern and vintage elements. The store is conscious of the area's sophisticated, cute, and elegant aesthetic. Sato also redesigned past models of Akita Mokko, a long-established bentwood furniture brand, to offer tables, sofas, and chairs. Sato was born in Canada in 1977. He completed his graduate studies at Waseda University in 2002 and founded the Nendo Tokyo office in the same year. He opened offices in Milan in 2005 and Singapore in 2012. He has also worked on boutique designs for many brands, including Issey Miyake, Puma House Tokyo, and Camper.
