Shinjuku Isetan offers gifts with the theme "TSUNAGARU" to convey feelings

Feb 6, 2014

Following its August launch, the second "TSUNAGARU MARKET" opened on February 5th at The Stage #4 on the 4th floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building. The event, which runs until the 11th, features handmade products sold by the creators themselves. The event aims to foster connections between people and each other, and between objects and each other, through the works of these creators. Brands were selected from a wide variety of categories, including accessories, bags, shoes, and plants, with the keyword "connection" in mind. "Qusamura," opening its first store at Isetan, is a plant shop that proposes unique beauty based on the concept of "beautiful plants." The owner personally collects unique plants from his travels around Japan and the world, pairing them with containers that bring out their individuality. "Own Pu Shop," which focuses on interior goods, was founded by a group of current students majoring in product design at Kyoto Saga University of Arts. Each maker creates unique products that bring a smile to their face.

The accessory brand "g;fifty" introduced cord bracelets and rings that combine Iga braiding, a traditional Japanese craft, with diamond-studded jewelry parts. With 24 varieties of braided cords and over 20 types of jewelry parts, customers can choose their favorites and order them.

More than 20 other brands also participated in the event, 12 of which were first-time exhibitors. They offer an order service that allows customers to customize their favorite items to create one-of-a-kind pieces (excluding "Omp" and "Qusamura").

"Some of the brands were introduced to us by their creators, and we felt a connection between them even from the planning stage. We hope this will be an opportunity for the creators to directly communicate their passion and dedication to their craftsmanship with customers, deepening their connections. We hope that this event will foster connections among these brands and lead to future collaborations and other expansions in their activities," said the buyer in charge. Participating brands include accessory brands g;fifty, KARAFURU, NIS, yaca, nooca, Kenichi Kondo, Meg Miyano, ONO, RICO, and Serieu, clothing and accessories brands cyane, KeiFerida, A-griffe, and Ryusuke Kawamura, leather goods brands ENBARQMENT and Craft Balloon Kudzu, pottery brand mu., interior goods brand own pu shop, and plant shop Qusamura.
