DOVER STREET MARKET GINZA in Tokyo's Ginza district has been offering a wide selection of shoes from AUTHENTIC SHOE & Co., designed by shoe designer Toshinosuke Takegahara, since February 7th. Along with a special installation, the store will bring together a wide range of items, from classic models from the brand's early days to more recent collections. The collection includes six styles, including "HIGH TOE SHOES" (79,800 yen), which use delicate techniques to create a modern take on shoes popular among common people in the late 19th century; "HIGH TOE BOOTS" (93,450 yen); and "BUTTONED BOOTS" (97,650 yen), which were popular in the 19th and 20th centuries but are rarely made today due to the high level of hand-stitching. All items are made from calfskin leather using the Goodyear weave. Available in US sizes 7, 8, and 9. Takegahara founded the dress shoe brand "Takegahara Toshinosuke" in 1994. After designing for the bespoke line of British shoe brand Tricker's, NUMBER (N)INE, and French shoe brand PARABOOT, he renamed "Takegahara Toshinosuke" to Authentic Shoe & Co. in 2002 and founded the women's shoe brand "BEAUTIFUL SHOES" in 2010. He has also collaborated with many brands, including COMME des GARÇONS, where he created shoes, and was appointed shoe designer for HELMUT LANG.
