The "Dutch Design: Tradition and Innovation" exhibition, showcasing Dutch design, will open on March 27th at the Mikimoto Hall on the 6th floor of the Mikimoto flagship store in Ginza, Tokyo. The exhibition features furniture and ceramics selected for the Dutch Ambassador's Residence in Tokyo, as well as fashion, jewelry, and textiles. Approximately 70 pieces, created by approximately 50 designers using traditional techniques and materials, will be exhibited in a space designed to resemble living spaces such as dining rooms, bedrooms, and living rooms. Dutch designers Scholten & Baijings have reinterpreted Arita ware, a porcelain ware with a history of approximately 400 years, to create a new brand called "Color Porcelain," featuring traditional Japanese colors. New products will also be featured, combining traditional Dutch Delftware with wicker weaving, as well as furniture made from recycled waste materials. Three pieces created specifically for this exhibition using Mikimoto pearls will be exhibited in a space called the "Innovation Lab."
