The "Art Nouveau - Miniature Daum Exhibition - The Sparkle of the Four Seasons Depicted in Glass - The Collection of Reza Fard" will be held at the Mikimoto Hall in Ginza, Tokyo, from February 20th.
This exhibition will feature approximately 150 glass works by glass artists Daum Freres (the Daum Brothers), including elaborate miniatures created as samples for commercial use, as well as flowers, plants, and seasonal natural landscapes. Since the miniatures are produced in small numbers and are not for sale, they rarely appear on the market, making this a rare opportunity to see them all at once. Other exhibits will include works exhibited at the Paris World's Fair.
The Daum Brothers were inspired by Emile Gallé, who achieved success at the 1889 Paris World's Fair, and founded their glass workshop in 1991. Based on traditional craftsmanship, they explored techniques such as "vitrification," in which glass powder is attached to the hot glass base, and created a popular series that met the demands of the times. They won the Grand Prix in the glass category at the 1900 Paris World's Fair, becoming one of the leading Art Nouveau workshops.
