To commemorate the publication of "POSTERS OTOMO KATSUHIRO × GRAPHIC DESIGN," a collection of posters by Katsuhiro Otomo, an exhibition of the same name will be held at the gallery "AL" in Daikanyama, Tokyo, from February 28th.
The book covers almost every poster that Katsuhiro Otomo has been involved with, from promotional posters for his manga works such as "AKIRA," to advertising posters for his films, to posters for companies and events for which he provided visuals. It also includes a three-way discussion between Otomo and graphic designer Toshiaki Uesugi and collage artist Kosuke Kawamura, in which they discuss their passion and commitment to poster design.
The exhibition at "AL," which will open on February 28th, will focus on special posters from the book, featuring unique printing techniques that are difficult to reproduce. A wide variety of posters will be on display in their actual size, from popular works such as "AKIRA," "MEMORIES," and "Steamboy" to the advertising poster for the "CANON T70," which made an impression in 1984 with its futuristic image. Books will also be on sale at the venue.
