Porta, the underground shopping center in front of Kyoto Station, and The Cube, the Kyoto Station Building specialty shopping district, will simultaneously reopen on March 20th. Targeting women in their late 20s to early 30s, the complex will house a collection of high-end apparel and general merchandise stores, creating a unified overall look for the fashion floors on the second basement floor of Porta and The Cube. Located west of the subway concourse, Porta is comprised of four fashion zones: "Select Casual," "Sweet & Glamorous," "Natural & Basic," and "Young Casual," as well as a "Restaurant & Cafe" zone. Six stores, including the lifestyle goods store MUJI com, will be making their Kansai debut, while 21 stores, including women's apparel retailers IENA SLOBE and Free People and cosmetics store KIEHL'S SINCE 1851, will be making their Kyoto debut. In addition, the fashion zone's hours will be extended until 9:00 PM to coincide with the renovation.
The fashion floor on the second basement floor of The Cube is divided into three zones: "Casual Fashion & Lifestyle Goods," "Goods & Cosmetics," and "Young Casual Fashion." Four stores, including "COSME KITCHEN CAFE," will be opening in the Kansai region for the first time, while 13 stores, including women's apparel "GINGER ALE" and cosmetics shop "Silk Oil of Morocco," will be opening in Kyoto for the first time. The store sections and aisles have been completely redesigned to create an environment that makes it easy to move around.
In addition, a collaboration with painter MAYA MAXX has resulted in the creation of "Cubee," a mascot character that will appear throughout The Cube, both inside and outside the facility.
