Longines, a watch brand of the Swatch Group, will be releasing 10 new pieces from the Longines Heritage Collection, the Longines Heritage 1935 (priced at ¥229,000), at the World Watch Fair at Mitsukoshi Nihonbashi Main Store, starting August 20th.
The Longines Heritage 1935 is a reproduction of a model produced for Czech Air Force pilots in 1935. Also available for the general public, this model, with its robust movement and crystal, was praised as a watch that represented the finest technology of the time.
Large white Arabic numerals coated with Superminolva® fluorescent paint stand out against the black dial, which is harmoniously matched with a railway track minute ring. A small second and date display are located at 6 o'clock. The rhodium-plated and sand-finished skeleton hands are also coated with Superminolva®.
Longines was founded in Saint-Imier, Switzerland in 1832. By the time of the Barcelona World Exposition in 1929, it had won more than 10 Grand Prix at world expositions and was known as the "brand with the most awards." Longines, which uses a winged hourglass logo, is also the oldest brand registered with the World Intellectual Property Organization and still uses the same registered trademark and logo. As the official watchmaker for sporting events and a partner of international sports federations, the brand currently does business in over 140 countries around the world.
