ISSEY MIYAKE MEN held a show at its own showroom for its SS15 collection, with the theme "Tropical Dandies."
Inspired by exotic resorts, the pieces used fibers such as abaca (a type of banana) and pineapple, fully showcasing the brand's signature use of new materials.
The tropical prints of desert bananas, pineapples, and dragon fruit were created by refined handwork by artisans in Kyoto, resulting in a sophisticated yet chic finish. In fact, jackets made from fabric woven with banana fibers are a unique example of the brand's innovation.
In a series inspired by pure white sand beaches and sparkling emerald and turquoise seas, shirts with ocean surface prints and uniquely textured pleated items left a refreshing impression.
Inspired by the deep sea, the "Abyss Series" is a collaboration with the marine biology research group "Bloom Association." Vivid colors and mysterious creatures of the seabed are expressed through digital prints.
This season also sees a wide range of accessories, including leather sneakers, backpacks made with a mix of banana fiber, clutches, PC cases, scarves, and knapsacks.
The collection captures beach and resort elements from multiple perspectives, incorporating the playful spirit of designer Takahashi Yusuke.
