In our first and second installments of our shaved ice feature, we introduced the celebrity menus of hotels, but this time we're zooming in on local shaved ice specialty shops. The world of shaved ice is deep, and there are even specialty shops! If you love sweets but are also health-conscious, we have the perfect menu for you.
Shaved Ice Cafe & Bar Yelo in Roppongi is a light and healthy shaved ice shop. The homemade syrup allows you to enjoy the flavor of the fruits, vegetables, and other ingredients, and the homemade milk sauce, made in-house every morning, has a light and fresh texture that is completely different from commercially available condensed milk. Of course, they also pay particular attention to the ice, using high-quality pure ice that is rigorously temperature-controlled to create a fine, fluffy texture. The menu is extensive, offering everything from fruity treats like "Strawberry Milk" and "Mango Lassi" to vegetable treats like "Green Smoothie" (all three for 850 yen) and "Organic Carrot Mascarpone" (900 yen), as well as sweet treats like "Cafe au Lait" (750 yen) and "Tiramisu" (800 yen). And, without a doubt, our summer recommendation is the limited-time "Watermelon Mascarpone" (950 yen)! Fresh watermelon, a symbol of summer, is boldly layered with mascarpone. It's truly a miraculous marriage. Have you ever tried shaved ice like this? I highly recommend it. There are also a plethora of other toppings and menu items that are too numerous to list here. You'll have a hard time deciding which one to choose. This healthy shaved ice is perfect for fighting summer fatigue. Why not stop by while you're out shopping at Midtown or Hills? You're sure to find something you like.
