Diptyque will release three new fragrance candles (450g each, 8,900 yen each) on September 1st to commemorate the brand's 20th anniversary.
Each candle is inspired by an object or place deeply connected to the brand's founding, and a complex scent is created by crystallizing various ingredients. "Le Redouté" is a potpourri scent favored by Diptyque founders Desmond Knox-Leet, Christiane Gautrot, and Yves Coueslant. After a decades-old sachet was discovered in the back of a boutique drawer, it was reborn as a candle with woody, spicy, floral notes.
"Les Lilas" is inspired by the English gardens on the cliffs of Normandy that Yves and Desmond loved. White lilac, heliotrope, and spearmint create lush floral notes. "Curiosité" has a warm fragrance woven with clove, rosewood, and ambergris, evoking the dried flowers, ink, wood chips, and shells of Desmont's workshop.
Three candle holders (17,900 yen each) that can be used with candles from Diptyque as well as other brands will also be available. "Paysage" (Landscape), handcrafted by artisans in a ceramic workshop, blends black and white to create a landscape-like pattern. "Plumage" (Feathers) features a relief pattern inspired by peacock feathers, and "Foyage" (Leafs) creates openwork shadows that can be enjoyed when a candle is lit.
Available at the Aoyama store and 12 other stores nationwide.
