Sparkling wine Franciacorta takes over Alitalia

Aug 15, 2014

For the next year, one of Alitalia's new Airbus A330 aircraft will be hijacked by the Italian sparkling wine Franciacorta. The Franciacorta logo will be displayed at door height, and 26 of the overhead bin compartment covers will be adorned with photos of Franciacorta's vineyards, wineries, landscapes, and historic sites. A video showcasing the appeal of Franciacorta will also be screened on all Alitalia flights. This project is part of a broader collaboration between Franciacorta and Alitalia, agreed upon in January 2014, aimed at promoting Italian excellence worldwide. As part of the "Cuvée Magnifica" project, Franciacorta, specially crafted for Alitalia, will be served alongside fine Italian cuisine to all passengers in "Magnifica" (Business Class). Franciacorta is also served on Boeing 777 flights between Tokyo and Rome, Milan, and Venice. In 1995, Franciacorta was the first Italian wine made using the method of secondary fermentation in the bottle (Metodo Classico) to receive the Designation of Origin Controlled. The label only displays the name Franciacorta, clearly indicating the region of origin, production method, and wine name. Traditional wineries now also employ advanced winemaking techniques and produce not only Millesimato, Rosé, Satin, and Riserva, but also still wines from the Franciacorta region.
