Parisian fragrance brand Diptyque has opened its first flagship store in Japan in Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo. The store's address is 5-6-15 Minami-Aoyama, Minato-ku, Tokyo. The store's design is themed around a fusion of Western and Japanese styles. The entrance evokes a Japanese garden with its stone paving and plantings, while the interior features shelves made of Raku ware tiles and walls with gold alphabet motifs. A tower of over 500 candles, large and small, rises from the center. The three-story building features a shop on the first floor, a fragrance workshop space on the second floor, and offices on the third floor. To commemorate the opening, the Aoyama store will also be offering exclusive "Tokyo" candles (6,825 yen) with plum and cherry blossom scents, "Paris" candles (6,825 yen) with lily of the valley and linden flower scents, and lanterns featuring each city (12,600 yen each). Also available for a limited time are Christmas candles (7,875 yen) themed around the theme of "Festival of Lights" in three colors: orange, green, and purple. Limited-edition gift sets from the 2013 Holiday Collection are also available. Standard items include fragrances, scented candles, oval soap, and a Mediterranean-inspired skincare series. Popular items include the "BAIES" fragrance and candle, which combines blackcurrant and rose, and an hourglass-shaped diffuser (15,750 yen). Gift wrapping is also Japanese-inspired, featuring three layers of tissue paper, each colored to represent the scent, layered like origami. Kazuhisa Fukuzumi, president and CEO of Diptyque Japan, said, "Japan has long been a market that Diptyque has focused on as we expand globally. Our initial budget for our first store in Japan was four times larger than originally planned, as we were determined to create the best possible product. We plan to continue expanding our stores, striving to create and design stores that suit each city."
