A limited-time "Eatable of Many Orders" (Etable) shop is currently open in the West Park on the fourth floor of the main building of Isetan Shinjuku. It will run until August 25th.
"Etable" means "edible." The name "Etable of Many Orders" was chosen in reference to Kenji Miyazawa's novel "The Restaurant of Many Orders." The intention behind the name is to communicate the ingredients of the products to consumers, much like a food quality label. The concept is to communicate the product and its background, including each individual material, dyeing process, and leather tanning method.
The limited-time shop features interior decorations created in collaboration with sculptor Kenji Misawa. Etable designer Koji Arai and Misawa both live in Atami, and this collaboration was sparked by a previous store Etable had opened in Misawa's atelier. This season's theme for etable is "VEGETABLE LAMB." It's said that medieval Europeans, upon first encountering cotton introduced from Central Asia, assumed that a tree with sheep-like fruit existed, due to its wool-like appearance. Based on this unique interpretation, the collection features needle-punched cotton processed to resemble wool, and wool designed to resemble blooming cotton. Items that maximize the appeal of cotton and wool, such as the "Heart Blouse" (wool ¥39,000, cotton ¥29,000), complement Misawa's warm sculptures. The two complement each other, creating a unique space in one corner of the floor. A bag pattern customization event will also be held during the event. Choose a bag from sample designs and customize your color. Customers can also request a hand-embroidered initial.
