FRED PERRY has released a polo shirt in collaboration with British artist Gary Hume.
As part of the "Blank Canvas" project, which treats classic Fred Perry items as blank canvases for customization, three new polo shirts featuring Hume's iconic prints have been released.
The "Gary Hume Spike Fred Perry Shirt" features Hume's bold and minimalist artwork "Spike" printed on a white shirt with a black tipline. The design features the glossy finish of "Spike" against a subtle background, as well as gold droplets and lines drawn below the second button.
The "Gary Hume Tie Print Fred Perry Shirt" is a shirt without Fred Perry's signature tipline and other embellishments, allowing Hume's artwork to shine through. To approximate the original "blue Colour" piece, the item was dyed and a collar and tie were added to create a trompe l'oeil effect.
The "Gary Hume Exclamation Point Fred Perry Shirt" features a black body and white collar, boldly printed with Hume's powerful work "Exclamation Point 2."
All items are priced at 16,000 yen. Available at the Fred Perry Laurel Harajuku store, the Fred Perry Laurel Osaka store, and the online shop.
Gary Hume is an English artist. He was nominated for the Turner Prize in 1996 and won the Jerwood Prize for Drawing in 1997. In 1999, he was selected to represent Britain at the Venice Biennale. Known for his rebellious style, painted with flat, colorful gloss paint, he led the YBA (Young British Artists) movement in the 1990s.
