TARO HORIUCHI, a designer by Taro Horiuchi, a graduate of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, presented his Pre-Fall 2017 collection. The season's keywords are purity, future, and chemical reaction. The collection expresses the chemical reaction between futurism and early 20th-century classicism through the combination of materials, patterns, and tailoring. The collection combines time-honored smocking techniques with motifs of space and light, such as a classic floral set printed on metallic fabric and a checked tweed dress woven with transparent fibers, aiming for the brand's key signature of "merging past and future." Following last season's approach, the collection employs folding and squeezing techniques to alter volume and form, emphasizing unique silhouettes. While the overall color tone is muted, sax blue and red accentuate the collection, creating a fresh impression. The incorporation of corsets and belts in several looks also drew attention. The jewelry, inspired by organic shapes, includes wavy leather bracelets and edgy chokers adorned with pearls and studs. These unique accents add color to the whole look, completing a look that is both timeless and modern in beauty.
