The third wave of participating artists has been announced for the inaugural "Oku-Noto Triennale 2017: Art Festival at the Edge, Cutting-Edge Art," scheduled to take place throughout Suzu City, Ishikawa Prefecture, from September 3 to October 22, 2017.
Suzu, a place where a unique culture has been nurtured, is a town whose geographic isolation allows traditional lifestyles and customs, considered the source of Japanese culture, to remain. Oku-Noto Triennale 2017, with Fram Kitagawa as general director, will be an art festival where traditional culture and cutting-edge art resonate with each other. Together with participating artists from Japan and abroad, we will unearth the hidden potential of Oku-Noto Suzu and create a "cutting-edge" culture from the "life of Japan." Naoki Ishikawa will also be taking the main official photos.
Fourteen new artists and groups have been confirmed to participate in the festival. Participants include Allora & Calzadilla (Puerto Rico), Ongoing Collective, Kado Bunpei, Kanazawa College of Art Art Project Team [Suzupro], Kijima Maki, GYOKO YOSHIDA + KINOURA MEETING, Koyama Masanori, Alexander Konstantinov (Russia), Tanaka Nobuyuki, Noto Aburi Project, Basrama Collective (Spain), Makabe Rikuji, Yoshino Yoko, and Riki Gozan.

In addition, advance tickets for the Art Viewing Passport will go on sale from late May 2017. At the Oku-Noto Triennale 2017, presenting the passport will offer various benefits, such as discounts at restaurants, accommodations, and events.
