The Lupin gang has taken over Isetan Shinjuku once again!?
Last year's wildly popular collaboration event with the anime "Lupin the Third," "ISETAN x Lupin the Third: LUPINISSIMO IN ISETAN," is back, even more powerful than ever. Concept shops featuring five characters—Lupin, Daisuke Jigen, Goemon Ishikawa, Fujiko Mine, and Inspector Zenigata—will be set up on each floor of Isetan Shinjuku. Limited-edition original items will be available for purchase, and a "Lupin Ristorante" will be set up, recreating the Lupin gang's hideout. The event will run for just one week, from February 22nd to 27th. Here's a detailed report on this must-see event, faithfully recreating the world of Lupin the Third.
The main venue, the 7th floor event hall of the main building, will feature the reservation-only "Lupin Ristorante," an exhibition and sale of Monkey Punch's hand-drawn prints (giclée), and a shop offering a wide selection of Lupin gang treasures and favorite items. In addition to fashion suggestions that recreate the jacket styles worn by Lupin throughout the "Lupin the Third" TV series, the lineup will include approximately 150 elaborate items, including Jigen's favorite accessories such as rings, lighters, and tie pins; limited-edition badges commemorating Lupin's 50th anniversary; "Okiagari Koboshi" dolls (four varieties, 2,665 yen each), which represent Lupin's indomitable spirit of standing up no matter how many times he's nearly captured; and Estée Lauder lipsticks (3,600 yen each), which Lupin reportedly gifted to Fujiko. There will also be a wide selection of gourmet items, including sake and whiskey in original packaging, shrimp and cheese rice crackers (1,200 yen), and sables (1,400 yen). These carefully selected items, inspired by Lupin and his friends' favorites, make great souvenirs. On the 7th floor of the Main Building (Kimono Department), there will be a photo spot inspired by Goemon's home, as well as kimonos, yukatas, heko obi (belts), and stoles from Y. & Sons, a men's kimono tailoring shop in Kanda, Tokyo. On the 5th floor of the Main Building (Kitchen Dining Decor), Jigen's Bar will be open, modeled after the bar frequented by whiskey-loving Jigen. Guests can enjoy I.W. Harper, Jigen's favorite, served in Riedel tumblers (5 types, 6,000 yen each) (participation fee: 1,000 yen per glass), as well as champagne and sake. On the 3rd floor of the Main Building (Center Park/The Stage #3), a wild and sexy Fujiko's closet will be recreated, and her beloved Harley-Davidson motorcycle will be on display. Items favored by Fujiko include a Christian Dada rider's jacket (158,000 yen) and a Beautiful People all-in-one (210,000 yen, limited to one item), as well as a selection of body-conscious dresses.
The highlight is a special framed set, limited to 50 sets, available at Isetan Men's Residence/Charlie Weiss on the 8th floor of the Men's Building. Valuable original drawings will also be on display, so Lupin fans should definitely stop by.
You can also take commemorative photos at the photo spots set up in the shops and restaurants on the 7th floor. Why not have fun pretending to be one of Lupin and his friends? During the event, voice actors will be broadcasting in the building, so be sure not to miss it!
