Dec 5, 2013

Kyoto Prefectural Botanical Garden (Shimogamo Hangi-cho, Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City) will be opening its observation greenhouse at night and offering illuminations from December 15th to 24th.

Daytime opening will close at 5:00 PM (greenhouse at 4:00 PM), and after a safety inspection, the garden will reopen at 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM. The trees and flower beds within the garden will be decorated with approximately 100,000 LEDs. The observation greenhouse is currently hosting a "Poinsettia Exhibition," featuring 1,000 pots of poinsettias of approximately 100 varieties, including rare species. A "Carpet of Light" will be displayed in the bulb garden on the Kitayama side. During the event, mini concerts featuring handbells, jazz, mandolin, and more will be held daily by students from Kyoto Notre Dame University and Kyoto Prefectural University. Admission is 200 yen for adults, 150 yen for high school students, and free for junior high school students and younger.
