Louis Vuitton has created "La maison au bord de l'eau" (The House Closest to Water), designed by Charlotte Perriand, and unveiled it at the Art Basel Miami Beach art fair, which runs until December 8th.
Approximately 80 years ago, Perriand entered this house in a competition organized by the French architecture magazine "L'Architecture d'Aujourd'hui" (Contemporary Architecture)" with the aim of popularizing affordable vacation homes for the masses, and won second place. However, the house was never actually built. She subsequently came up with several variations aimed at high-end customers, but these were never realized, and only sketches remain.
However, Louis Vuitton has now created this house as part of its new line, "Icon Project." Although there were no detailed blueprints and only Perriand's sketches remained, the house was brought to life by utilizing the know-how of her architectural team. The theme of the line's 14SS collection is Charlotte Perriand. The collection features colorful items inspired by Perriand, who was an architect, designer, and photographer, and in Japan, the Shinjuku 3-Chome store, which opened on November 29th, carries the full line.
In addition, to coincide with this exhibition, the brand's Miami Design District store will feature Perriand. The icon collection will be displayed alongside her furniture. The facade has also been specially designed, featuring a black and white geometric pattern. The area has been developed as a neighborhood where art, fashion, and design come together. In addition to shops from luxury fashion houses, the area is lined with design studios and facilities designed by renowned architects.
