Rolf Snoeren, designer of the fashion brand Viktor & Rolf, was born on December 19, 1969, in the Netherlands. He met his future partner, Viktor Horsting, at the Fashion Institute Arnhem in the Netherlands. The two graduated in 1992 and founded Viktor & Rolf in 1993. That same year, they won three awards at the Hyères International Fashion Festival, a French competition for new designers: the Press Award, the Women's Award, and the Grand Prize. In 1994, they presented their collection, "HILVER DE L'A MOUR" (Winter of Love), at the Musée d'Art Contemporain de Paris. Their creations, which combined fashion and art, attracted attention. They participated in the Paris women's ready-to-wear collections from the 2000 Autumn/Winter season, and launched their men's line in 2003 and their fragrance line in 2005. The eyewear, which debuted in 2004, is always worn by Viktor & Rolf and has become an icon for them. In the same year, the Mori Art Museum in Roppongi Hills held the "COLORS Fashion and Color" exhibition, with them as curators.
In July of this year, the brand presented its first haute couture collection in 13 years in Paris. Furthermore, the brand recently opened its first French flagship store on Rue Saint-Honoré in the 1st arrondissement of Paris. With the closure of its Milan store, this is currently the brand's only flagship store in the world.
