TOD'S held the first TOD'S BOOK CLUB event at the TOD'S Omotesando boutique on December 14th. The talk show featured Amakasu Ririko's new book, "Even if I Count the Nights We Can't Meet" (Kawade Shobo Shinsha).

TOD'S BOOK CLUB is a cultural event launched by TOD'S as part of its CSR activities, with the theme of "adding color to your lifestyle through the written word." This time, radio personality ANNA hosted the event, and in addition to Amakasu, the guest was fashion director Yoshimasa Hoshiba, who has a history of being involved in the launch of men's magazines LEON and OCEANS. The talk featured phrases from the new romance novel. "Counting the Nights We Can't Meet" is a love story about a 30-year-old piano tuner who is torn between her boyfriend, a younger car mechanic, and an older man she meets at a coffee shop on a rainy day. Amakasu says, "I wrote the story with an awareness of the different directions of jealousy between men and women." The story details brands and shop names, including Tod's Gommino driving shoes. Hoshiba, a former editor, picked out memorable phrases while looking through galley proofs with a red pen. In response to the line, "It's cheap wine, costing 1,500 yen a bottle, but when two people drink it, it tastes better than any Chateau wine," Hoshiba empathized, saying, "I understand because I've had a similar experience," to which Amakasu responded self-deprecatingly, "While you're drinking cheap wine with your partner, I'm drinking Chateau wine alone, having a party by myself." The talk show was lively, with the audience excited by their witty conversation and touching on other topics related to sexual depictions.

After the talk show, participants were treated to "Kopi Luwak," a high-quality coffee made from beans extracted from the droppings of civet cats, which appear in the novel, and the venue became a place for interaction.
