FREITAG will hold two open-to-the-public year-end and New Year's events in its stores on December 27th and January 5th.
On December 27th, a year-end party will be held at the Ginza store (1-13-12 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo). Mochi pounding will take place during the daytime session (1:30 PM to 4:30 PM), and the store will be transformed into an oden bar for the evening session (5:00 PM to 8:00 PM). In true FREITAG style, the mochi pounded during the day will be "recontextualized" into mochi pouches (giving new life to used materials). Sake will also be served.
On January 5th, 2014, a New Year's party will be held (12:00 PM to 2:00 PM) at the Shibuya store (6-19-18-1F Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo). Guests can top the freshly pounded mochi with their favorite toppings, such as ozoni, kinako mochi, and isobeyaki. Sake, warm amazake (sweet sake), and pork soup are also available.
